Job Title: Market Area Safety Trainer

I. Job Summary:
Delivers the designated training curricula according to the needs of the Market Area as determined by Safety and Human Resources. Plays a key role in the planning, development, and design of new curricula

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

·Create and maintain a safe and effective “hands on” learning environment for Waste Management employees.
·Communicate, mentor, and train new hires and/or employees with a re-training need to instill our WM Safety Culture and comply with company safety policies/procedures.
·Schedule, coordinate, and facilitate all orientation training within MA.
·Maintain all training documentation to include quizzes and driver qualification files and forward to relevant employee location.
·Distribute and track evaluation forms completed by employees 30 days after orientation training.
·Recommend and implement plans or programs to further enhance our safety culture.
·Assist the Market Area Safety Department with any training and/or special projects.
·Ensure that the image of the company is professional and ethically in compliance.
·Plans, creates, and communicates weekly new hire training schedule for a designated location and specified courses.
·Reports schedule, participant attendance, and evaluations to the Training Coordinator in order to maintain accurate training participation records.
·Orders training materials in a timely manner to be delivered to training locations.
·Delivers curricula demonstrating adult and accelerated learning techniques.
·Assesses training participants as appropriate within a course and provides feedback to the participant and manager.
·Assesses and coaches individual participant performance following training through observation as appropriate to measure the impact of learning to specific business results.
·Reviews and edits existing and new training curricula for the entire team.
·Leads and drives development and design of new training curricula as needed.
·Conducts train-the-trainer sessions for designated trainers of curricula.
·Assists management in the selection of external training suppliers as needed.
·Maintains knowledge of training or company procedures through reading and interpreting general business periodicals and professional journals.
·Implement training programs that enhance safety performance of individuals in a variety of operational jobs.

IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A.Education and Experience
Required:
§Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience, and or three to five years previous experience. Relevant experience in the transportation industry providing training to drivers.
§Strong background in Safety, OSHA, and DOT compliance.
§Must have a current CDL license: Class B with air brake endorsement and have a current medical card.
B.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
None required.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

Preferred
§Bilingual (Spanish and English) Preferred. Curriculum designs experience a plus.
§Experience with operating vehicles utilized within the waste industry.
§Two years experience or more working in the waste industry.
